Chloë presented an interactive word-fest of comedy and story. More or less unscripted... especially the story. In 2020 Chloë should have celebrated 20 years of tales. It took a world pandemic and a second series of chemotherapy to stop her.

At 2018 and ’19 Cheltenham Literature Festivals, Chloë packed out her events with story cabaret sets Tales of Lust & Chocolate and Space Aliens Ate My Story. She’d appeared with rock, jazz and folk bands. Adapted classic stories for freestyle spoken word, created new tales from elves to UFOs.

At her fourth Stroud Theatre Festival Chloë collaborated with fellow feline fan Laura May Attwood in their comedy piece An Audience with Barbara Catland – complete with searing pink housecoat, basket of “kittens” and Laura in furry ears and tail. But it was sweary puppet Koshka, with her heavily fake Russian accent, who rather stole the show.

Even in pandemic year 2020, squeezed in between national lockdowns and chemotherapy, Chloë returned to Stroud – on the year’s wettest weekend! – to experiment with more stand-up / true life storytelling in Natural Verbosity.

Even Chloë’s hobbies prepared her for telling traditional stories.

She said, ‘I’ve LARPed as a spy, trained in sword combat, felt the comfort of a tight-laced bodice – and fallen off many horses. When the story hero is soaked through, fingers numb with cold, bruised and shaken, I’m speaking from personal experience!’

Story Cabaret

Chloë's repertoire was an enchanting blend of traditional stories from many cultures, informed by years of travel, plus original stories for today’s audiences.  “A voice like chocolate melting over a bonfire”. As one of her costumed characters or just with singing bowl and dancing drum, Chloë captivated young & old audiences alike.
